Azoospermia is the absence of spermatozoa in the ejaculate. This seminal alteration can be obstructive or secretory.
In the case of secretory azoospermia, a possible cause of genetic origin would be Klinefelter syndrome. Males with secretory azoospermia have problems with sperm production. Therefore, if the process of sperm formation (spermatogenesis) is altered, these individuals will have to resort to a sperm donor to become fathers.
On the other hand, if despite having azoospermia, there is sperm production, then they could become fathers by means of a testicular biopsy and assisted reproductive techniques.
