When there is an inability for the baby to be delivered healthily through the vaginal canal, an abdominal delivery or caesarean section may be performed.
This involves making a cut in the abdomen to deliver the baby through the abdomen. The abdominal incision can be horizontal, T-shaped or vertical. Recovery after caesarean section is usually more expensive compared to a vaginal birth. The mother should wash the wound with soap and water daily and it is recommended to keep the scar well hydrated at all times.
