When a male has a type of obstructive azoospermia and is unable to obtain sperm in ejaculated semen, one of the options for trying to obtain viable sperm is testicular biopsy. It consists of a surgical intervention in which small fragments of testicular tissue are removed the spermatozoa are looked for under a microscope.
