- Pale red
- slight bleeding, usually at the beginning of menstruation.
- Orange-red
- is associated with a possible infection.
- Bright red
- heavy menstrual bleeding.
- Dark red
- old blood from the last days of the period.

- traces of endometrial tissue in the blood.
