Fanconi anemia is a disease of the bone marrow that affects the production of blood cells, including red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets. It is a monogenic disease whose pattern of transmission is autosomal recessive. Therefore, it is necessary to have both copies of the altered gene to manifest the disease.
Some of the complications that can arise from Fanconi anemia are infections or coagulation problems.
