Myometritis, also known as metritis, is a type of pelvic inflammatory disease (PID). It is an infection of the myometrium, that is, of the inner layer that covers the uterus. This alteration of the endometrium is usually a consequence of endometritis.

The most common pathogens of myometritis are the bacterium Arcanobacterium pyogenes, the bacterium Fusobacterium necrophorum or the bacterium Escherichia coli, among others, and their combinations .
