The different sections of this article have been assembled into the following table of contents.
Next Fertility Sevilla, previously known as IMER Sevilla, is an assisted reproduction clinic that has been in operation for 30 years. Its founders are Dr. González Utor, Dr. Sillero and Dr. Cascales.
Currently, the medical director of Next Fertility is Dr. Luis Quintero; while the laboratory is directed by embryologist Rocío Díaz Giraldez. In total, 33 specialists work in this clinic in different fields: embryology, gynecology, nursing, patient care, etc.
Regarding the facilities, Next Fertility Sevilla has renovated all its rooms this year. In addition, this clinic has a reception area, waiting rooms, gynecological consultations with examination rooms, laboratory, operating room and so on.
This center occupies the ground floor of the Gyesa Palmera building. If you need information on how to get to the clinic, either by public or private transport, please click here.
As we have previously mentioned, Next Fertility Sevilla has carried out renovations in the clinic.
The following are all the facilities of the center, with the resources and technology available to perform assisted reproduction treatments.
As mentioned above, Next Fertility Sevilla is located on the first floor of the Gyesa Palmera building. This location is very close to the Betis Football Club soccer stadium.
In addition, this clinic has good access from the highway in case of arriving by car. Another advantage of Next Fertility Sevilla's location is that parking is available both on the street and in a large open space right next to the clinic.
Furthermore, Next Fertility Sevilla's facilities are adapted for people with reduced mobility, since the doors are wide and there is an adapted toilet.
To the left of the entrance door to Next Fertility Sevilla is the reception area. There are 4 people working here and they attend to their patients inboth English and Spanish. This reception has a white counter and several chairs also in the same color.
In the same way, opposite the reception and just as you enter on the right is the patient waiting room. It is a single waiting room with several white sofas. There is also a television to make the wait more pleasant, although it is usually no longer than 5-10 minutes.
However, at Next Fertility there is also a waiting room exclusively for gamete donors. In this way, the clinic ensures the anonymity and confidentiality of the donors at all times. This waiting room is practically the same style as the patient waiting room, i.e. it has white sofas and a television.
At Next Fertility Seville there are 3 consultation rooms. Two of them have an examination area, while the remaining office is used both by the psychologist and for the explanation of the estimates to patients.
In the consultating room with an examination area, the space is divided into two parts. On the one side, the Next Fertility consultation office has a confidential area where the doctor talks to the patients. Here there is a table, white chairs and a white sofa.
On the other side, there is the examination area with a state-of-the-art Mindray ultrasound scanner. In this space there is also a washbasin and an examination bed; everything necessary for a proper gynecological examination.
Next Fertility Sevilla employs 5 gynecologists and all of them are on call on weekends and holidays in case an ovarian puncture or embryo transfer is necessary. In addition, the gynecologists speak both Spanish and English if necessary.
The operating room of Next Fertility is spacious, occupying 60 square meters. Typically, the staff present in the procedures are the anesthesiologist, the gynecologist, the nurse, the clinic assistant and the embryologist.
The surgical area of Next Fertility Sevilla communicates directly with the laboratory through a door, which facilitates the transport of samples. All the doors of the operating room and laboratories are automatically opened by means of a code, ensuring that only authorized personnel can enter.
This room is fully equipped with everything necessary to perform minor outpatient surgeries, such as testicular biopsies, ovarian punctures and embryo transfers. Therefore, Next Fertility's operating room is equipped with anesthesia equipment, a state-of-the-art Mindray ultrasound scanner, follicular aspirator, tube warmer and so on.
In addition, all wall corners and the baseboards in the OR area are rounded to prevent the accumulation of dirt. Furthermore, the material of the laboratory and operating room walls is specially designed for clean rooms, ensuring a clean and sterile environment at all times.
Next Fertility Sevilla has two laboratories, one for andrology and the other for IVF. In total, the laboratory of Next Fertility Seville occupies about 100 square meters where 4 embryologists and a laboratory technician work. All of them are on call on weekends in case it is necessary to perform a procedure.
Regarding the security method and traceability of samples, Next Fertility Sevilla uses Witness to avoid the confusion of samples between different patients. The administrative work is done outside the laboratory to avoid possible contamination.
The resources available in each of the different areas of the laboratory are detailed below.
The andrology area is designed to perform procedures related to semen samples, such as seminograms, sperm capacitation, sperm selection, fragmentation analysis, sample processing for IVF-ICSI, freezing of semen samples and so on.
This laboratory of Next Fertility Sevilla is equipped with:
Next Fertility Sevilla has its own sperm bank (CEIFER) and is adapted to work with infectious samples. In addition, the method used for cryopreservation of semen samples is slow freezing.
The IVF laboratory has access from the corridor and from the operating room through automatic doors with restricted access.
The furniture is made of stainless steel, there are no windows and the light is very dim. In addition, the temperature is kept between 20-24ºC. The purpose of all this is to ensure optimal conditions for embryo culture so as not to damage the embryos.
As for the equipment present in this laboratory to carry out assisted reproduction techniques, we find the following:
Regarding the method of cryopreservation of eggs and embryos, Next Fertility Sevilla uses the vitrification method. In addition, this center uses the laser method to biopsy the blastocysts that are going to undergo PGD. However, the personnel in charge of biopsying are not Next Fertility's own embryologists, but external personnel.
Finally, the Next Fertility Sevilla laboratory has an egg and embryo bank, as well as the possibility of embryo adoption.
There are 4 recovery rooms at Next Fertility Sevilla. All of them have the same style with an articulated bed, a closet to store personal belongings, a small table and a complete bathroom with WC, washbasin and shower.
Therefore, patients who have undergone surgery, such as follicular puncture, will be able to recover in peace in these rooms. In addition, patients will be given water to test their tolerance before discharge.
This is where blood draws are performed for Next Fertility Sevilla patients, although the samples are sent to an external laboratory for analysis. Next Fertility Sevilla does not have equipment for biochemical analysis.
In terms of furniture, the Next Fertility Seville nursing room has an armchair with seawater-colored armrests, a cold chamber for storing reagents, cabinets for storing material, a computer for administrative work and a centrifuge for obtaining serum and plasma.
This clinic has a room for the collection of semen samples, with its own bathroom.
The furniture provided is an armchair, a toilet, a sink and a television. In addition, there is WIFI in the room if the patient prefers.
The first visit at Next Fertility Seville usually lasts about 45-60 minutes and can be conducted in either Spanish or English. This first consultation is free of charge and involves the gynecologist and nurse.
It is always recommended that patients come to this first visit with as much information as possible, either previous tests, medical reports, reports of previous treatments, and so on. This will make the consultation much more effective and a more thorough assessment of the patient's situation can be made.
In addition, the first consultation at Next Fertility Sevilla includes a gynaecological examination, an ultrasound scan to evaluate the ovarian reserve, a blood test to measure the anti-mullerian hormone (AMH) and a basic semen analysis for the male.
Initial consultations are available in Next Fertility Sevilla from Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 9:00pm, which is the same for ultrasounds. The hours for embryo transfer are from 11:00am to 4:00pm.
The second consultation for the results of these tests is also included in this first free consultation and offers a 50% discount on complementary tests.
Finally, the clinic offers the possibility of having the first initial consultation telematically, at no cost, if the patient so wishes or in the case of international patients.
The fertility treatments that can be performed at Next Fertility Sevilla are specified in the following table:

In addition, Next Fertility Seville has a medical committee for highly complex cases and specialized units for repeat miscarriages and implantation failures.
The Spanish Fertility Society is in charge of compiling the results of all the Spanish assisted reproduction clinics every year and making a statistical analysis. In fact, the SEF is the only scientific and independent organization of the clinics that collects and publishes these data in an objective manner.
Although our analysis of this clinic was carried out in 28th November, 2022, we have to indicate that the last report published by the SEF shows the success rates obtained in the year 2019 (National Activity Register 2019-SEF Register).
Normally, there is a delay of about 2 years in the publication of these statistics due to the difficulty in data collection and the controls that are carried out. It should be noted that, to collect data from a gestation achieved in December 2017, we must wait until delivery, which will be approximately in September 2018.
It should also be taken into account that directly comparing pregnancy rates between different clinics can lead to misunderstandings because there are many factors that influence the results, such as the cause of sterility or the particular characteristics of each treatment.
Therefore, the SEF data shown below should be taken as a mere guide. In addition, we recommend reading this article for a better interpretation of the statistics.
Number of total cycles performed by the clinic in a year.
The SEF does not provide an exact number of annual cycles that each center performs, but rather it does so in the form of ranges as follows: less than 100 annual cycles, between 100 and 500 annual cycles, or more than 500 annual cycles.
From inviTRA we consider that for a better interpretation of the results it would be good that the SEF provides more exact data or smaller ranges for the number of annual cycles.
This is the total number of cycles performed by Next Fertility Sevilla in a year.
The probability that an embryo will implant in the woman's uterus after the transfer.
This success rate refers to the probability that a transferred embryo will nest in the woman's uterus. It is calculated as follows: number of gestational sacs observed on ultrasound divided by the number of embryos transferred.
The SEF shows this value in the form of an interval, since it is very complicated to provide an exact percentage due to the variability of factors that we have already discussed.
It should also be taken into account that the more assisted reproduction cycles the clinic performs, the narrower this interval will be and the better the interpretation.
Below, we show the implantation rates per embryo transfer in Next Fertility Sevilla.
Probability that an embryo transfer will lead to a pregnancy, regardless of the number of embryos transferred.
This success rate refers to the probability of pregnancy for each embryo transfer, regardless of the number of embryos transferred and the type of gestation obtained, that is, whether it is a single or multiple gestation.
The SEF divides this success rate according to the woman's age and is also shown in the form of an interval, so it is likely that very large intervals will be found in clinics that perform few cycles.
These are the pregnancy rates per embryo transfer obtained by Next Fertility Sevilla.
Fresh embryo transfer
Frozen embryo transfer
Percentage of embryo transfers made with one, two or three embryos
According to Law 14/2006 on Assisted Human Reproduction Techniques, in Spain it is only permitted to transfer a maximum of 3 embryos at each attempt.
Even so, a higher percentage of single-embryo transfers is now considered a quality parameter for clinics, since although transfers of two or three embryos increase the rate of gestation, twin or multiple pregnancies have many risks for the mother and babies and must be avoided at all costs.
The recommendation of inviTRA is to transfer only 1 or 2 embryos whenever possible.
In Next Fertility Sevilla they have the following percentages in terms of number of embryos transferred.
Fresh embryo transfer
Frozen embryo transfer
Types of pregnancies achieved according to the number of embryos transferred
As we have said, a single gestation is the best result that can be obtained after an assisted reproduction treatment.
In the following graphs, the percentage of each type of gestation obtained in Next Fertility Sevilla is shown according to the number of embryos transferred.
Due to the risks associated with multiple pregnancies (lower birth weight, higher probability of premature birth, etc.), the ideal would be to always obtain a single gestation rate of 100%, regardless of having transferred 1, 2 or 3 embryos.
Transferring fresh embryos
Transferring frozen embryos
Number of total cycles performed by the clinic in a year.
As far as egg donation is concerned, these are the ranges of annual cycles performed by Next Fertility Sevilla.
As we have indicated above, the SEF does not provide the exact number of cycles performed by a center and that makes it difficult to interpret.
The probability that an embryo will implant in the woman's uterus after the transfer.
The probability of a successful egg donation is usually higher than that of IVF with own eggs.
Taking this into account, these are the implantation rates obtained in Next Fertility Sevilla for IVF with donated eggs.
Probability that an embryo transfer will lead to a pregnancy, regardless of the number of embryos transferred.
In the case of egg donation, the probability of achieving a pregnancy does not depend so much on the age of the recipient woman. Still, the SEF divides this success rate equally into age ranges.
It should also be noted that the current trend is to perform IVF with frozen donor eggs rather than fresh ones.
These are the pregnancy rates by embryo transfer obtained in Next Fertility Sevilla for egg donation.
Fresh embryo transfer
Frozen embryo transfer
Percentage of embryo transfers made with one, two or three embryos
Given the high probability of achieving a pregnancy with donated eggs, it is always preferable to transfer a single embryo in this treatment in order to avoid a multiple pregnancy.
In Next Fertility Sevilla the embryos resulting from egg donation are transferred in the following manner.
Fresh embryo transfer
Frozen embryo transfer
Types of pregnancies achieved according to the number of embryos transferred
Finally, these are the types of pregnancies achieved by Next Fertility Sevilla according to the number of embryos transferred in egg donation IVF.
Transferring fresh embryos
Transferring frozen embryos
Number of pregnancies per cycle according to the woman's age.
To show the pregnancy rate of donor artificial insemination, the SEF divides the results according to the woman's age.
These are the probability intervals of pregnancy achieved by Next Fertility Sevilla for donor artificial insemination.
Type of pregnancy obtained after performing an artificial insemination treatment
As for the type of pregnancy obtained after getting a positive result with donor artificial insemination, these are the data obtained by Next Fertility Sevilla according to the woman's age.
It is worth noting the risks that a multiple pregnancy entails for both mother and babies, so the ideal result in any assisted reproduction treatment is a single gestation.
