Depending on how the woman responds to the ovarian stimulation treatment of the IVF-ICSI cycles, a certain number of eggs will be obtained. In this way, we can classify patients according to their ovarian response in:
- Low responders: 3 or fewer oocytes extracted in the follicular puncture.
- Normo-responders: between 4-15 oocytes are obtained.
- Hyper-responders: the number of oocytes extracted is greater than 15.
This is why it is very important to monitor patients during ovarian stimulation. Thus, the specialist will evaluate the woman's ovarian response to the hormonal treatment that is being administered through ultrasound and analytical tests.
