Oligoasthenoteratospermia and assisted reproduction

In a couple where the male suffers from oligoasthenoteratozoospermia, if pregnancy has not been achieved after one year (six months if the woman is over 35-38 years old) of frequent sexual intercourse without contraceptive protection, or if the oligoasthenoteratozoospermia is severe, it would be advisable to resort to assisted reproduction techniques to achieve pregnancy.

Specifically, the assisted reproduction technique indicated in cases of oligoasthenoteratospermia is ICSI (intracytoplasmic sperm injection), whereby a sperm with good motility and morphology is injected directly into each egg obtained from the woman.
