Diagnosis of ovarian cysts

Ovarian cysts can be detected by the specialist during a gynecological examination. However, transvaginal ultrasound can provide more information about the type of cyst and its contents.

However, there are certain analytical tests that can be done, such as a determination of hCG in the blood to check for pregnancy. If positive, the cyst may be a corpus luteum cyst, which is quite common in pregnancy.
