Oxidative stress is an imbalance between reactive oxygen species (ROS) and the antioxidants that are responsible for neutralizing them to prevent them from causing cell damage.
There are several factors that can lead to increased levels of ROS. Among them are:
- Tobacco.
- Alcohol.
- Obesity.
- Diabetes.
- Environmental pollutants and pesticides.
- Electromagnetic radiation.
- Varicocele.
In this situation, if the antioxidant system is overwhelmed by the increase in ROS, oxidative stress appears.
