Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) is a set of inflammations and infections that affect the upper part of the female reproductive tract. The longer it takes to start PID treatment, the more lesions it can cause and the greater the likelihood of complications. In relation to this type of ailment, it is of utmost importance to see a specialist and make a correct diagnosis.
The treatment can be:
- Ambulatory by administration of antibiotics .
- If there is no good tolerance, it requires hospitalization to administer the medication intravenously.
- In extreme cases it may require surgery .
