Pregorexia

Pregorexia is the extreme obsession with weight during pregnancy. This obsession does not have a formally recognized medical diagnosis, but rather is a term recently born in the media, the public, and some physicians to describe manifestations of eating disorders during pregnancy.

These disorders may include dieting, intense exercise, binge eating, or vomiting. Not all women who worry about weight gain have an eating disorder, only those who take this concern to the extreme and with their behavior endanger their pregnancy and their baby.

Women who had eating disorders earlier in their lives are more likely to have disorders again during their pregnancy.

However, an eating disorder in the past does not guarantee having it again in pregnancy. In fact, many women appreciate the new shape of their body more and accept it without problems.
