A preterm baby is a baby born before 37 weeks of gestation. In addition, if the birth occurs between 35 and 37 weeks, it will be a late preterm baby, since it is closer to the end of pregnancy.
The earlier the baby is born, the more likely it is to have abnormalities since it is still immature. In addition, the lungs are usually the most affected organs in premature babies. For this reason, most babies born before their due date spend a few days in the hospital in an incubator.
