A fertility clinic in Galicia, Spain has enabled the birth of a healthy child free from the eye disease known as retinitis pigmentosa (RP). RP is an inherited disease which causes progressive retinal degeneration by affecting the vision. It can be transmitted through different patterns of inheritance such as that linked to the X chromosome.
This birth has occurred thanks to the use of the tehcnique known as "quick" genotyping of embryos, through which a healthy baby has born.
