How the brain regulates hormone production in humans

The formation of the main sex hormones in males and females occurs in the testes and the ovaries, respectively.

However, the regulation of the hormone production system occurs in the brain, particularly in the pituitary gland. Firstly, the hypothalamus stimulates the production of gonadotropins with the secretion of GnRH. As a response to this signal, the pituitary gland starts producing FSH and LH, which will travel through the circulatory system toward the reproductive glands.
