Herpes simplex virus or HSV is divided into two types: HSV-1 and HSV-2. Both types of HSV can cause genital herpes, although HSV-" is the most common.
HSV-2 infections cause lesions to form on different areas of the body such as the vulva, vagina, anus, buttocks, etc.
