The levels of certain sex hormones, especially testosterone, can be altered when the body mass index (BMI) is high, so that it can affect the sperm formation process.
The cause of the decrease in testosterone in Leydig cells is the high production of leptin in adipose tissue cells, since obese men have a greater population of these cells.
