Semen quality in obese men may be affected due to an alteration in hormonal levels, which causes alterations in the formation and maturation of sperm. Therefore, both the concentration, mobility and morphology of sperm may be decreased.
In addition, the quality of the sperm formed is also lower, since they may have a high rate of DNA fragmentation, which makes them unstable and incapable of reaching the egg and penetrating it.
