The purpose of testicular biopsy is to retrieve sperm directly from the testicle. However, there are two different methods of performing a testicular biopsy.
On the one hand, open testicular biopsy or TESE is recommended for men diagnosed with obstructive azoospermia. On the other hand, percutaneous biopsy or TESA is indicated for patients with ejaculation blockage.
It should be noted that TESA is a less invasive surgical technique than TESE, so men may feel less discomfort after the procedure.
