How testosterone is formed

Testosterone is the main androgenic hormone, since it confers most of the male characteristics. However, testosterone is produced in both men's and women's bodies.

In men, most of the testosterone is formed in the testicles and a smaller amount in the adrenal glands.

Among women, testosterone is produced in the ovaries and a small amount in the adrenal glands.
