Some of the situations in which it is recommended to resort to fertility treatment using donor gametes are the presence of genetic alterations in the parents, poor egg and/or sperm quality, low ovarian reserve or patients with repeated miscarriages.
However, these are not the only reasons for gamete donation. For example, female couples or single women who wish to become mothers will also have to resort to sperm donation to achieve this, even if they do not have any gynecological problem that makes it impossible.
