Drinking large amounts of water during pregnancy is essential to avoid dehydration and constipation. However, there is a false belief that excessive water consumption causes an increase in the amount of amniotic fluid.
Another recommendation is to drink semi-skimmed or skimmed milk during pregnancy as it is a source of calcium that helps fetal bone development.
On the other hand, drinking large quantities of coffee or alcohol during pregnancy is totally forbidden.
