When a woman gives birth vaginally, she is more likely to suffer from uterine prolapse. However, vaginal delivery is not the only possible cause of uterine prolapse. Aging, lack of estrogen due to menopause or the presence of a pelvic tumor can also be reasons for the occurrence of uterine prolapse.
In addition, there are certain risk factors for uterine prolapse such as:
- Giving birth to a large baby.
- Advanced age.
- Obesity.
- Prolonged constipation.
- Chronic cough.
- Lifting heavy objects.
