From puberty onwards, the amount of estrogen in women increases. However, there comes a time when estrogen levels begin to drop. This is because menopause is approaching and the ovaries are losing activity.
Estrogens have several functions, such as promoting the appearance of secondary characteristics and intervening in the regulation of the menstrual cycle. Therefore, it is obvious to think that if the ovaries stop functioning at menopause, estrogen levels will decrease.
