What is the Walking epidural?
The Walking epidural, also called mobile epidural and outpatient epidural, is an anesthesia modality used in gynecology. It is a safe technique that eliminates pain during childbirth using minimum doses of analgesics.
The purpose of this type of anesthesia is twofold. On the one hand, epidural walping provides a sensation of analgesia and, on the other, it does not cause motor blockade. For this reason, this type of epidural is recommended for those women who want to participate more actively in childbirth and have greater autonomy.
Some of the benefits of the Walking epidural are the following:
- Uterine contractions are less painful.
- The dilation time is reduced.
- Greater satisfaction in the mother.
However, the use of this or any anesthesia technique must be done following the recommendations established by specialists.
