The most common recommendation during breastfeeding is to avoid combined hormonal contraceptives. These types of contraceptives contain both estrogen and progesterone, and the estrogen component may affect milk supply.
On the other hand, if choosing a hormonal contraceptive, those containing only progesterone can be used during breastfeeding, either in the form of a pill, a subdermal implant, or a contraceptive injection.
In any case, it is best to consult a specialist about the most appropriate contraceptive method and the right time to start it, depending on the particular situation.
