The intrauterine device (IUD) is a contraceptive method that can be hormonal or non-hormonal. These contraceptive devices can be used during breastfeeding, although it is recommended to wait at least 6 weeks after childbirth before insertion.
The duration of the IUD depends on the type, but it can be removed at any time if the woman wishes.
