Disadvantages of zygote intrafallopian transfer

Zygote intrafallopian transfer, or ZIFT, has several disadvantages. On the one hand, ZIFT requires surgery to introduce the zygotes into the fallopian tubes, so the risks are higher. In addition, intrafallopian transfer has a higher cost.

On the other hand, ZIFT has a higher rate of ectopic pregnancy and multiple pregnancy. All these disadvantages make intrauterine transfer the usual embryo transfer method.
