Heavy alcohol consumption makes pregnancy more difficult. Therefore, if you are trying to get pregnant naturally or through assisted reproduction techniques, the ideal is to stop drinking alcohol beforehand.
In the case of in vitro fertilisation (IVF) treatments, it has been found that women who drink alcohol regularly achieve a lower number of oocytes and poorer embryo development. In addition, alcohol consumption is also associated with a lower embryo implantation rate.
