Ultrasound monitoring and hCG administration

As the patient is taking the hormonal drugs for ovarian stimulation, she will need to visit her fertility centre periodically. In this way, the specialist will measure the size of the follicles and when they reach around 16-18 mm, the patient will be given an injection of hCG hormone.

The purpose of this hormone is to promote ovulation, that is to say, for the follicles to release the eggs they contain so that they can meet the sperm in the fallopian tubes. Generally, ovulation induction occurs when the patient has been undergoing ovarian stimulation for 12-14 days.
