Apart from artificial insemination (AI), female couples can also become mothers through in vitro fertilization (IVF). In this case, only one of the women in the couple participates in the process.
Unlike in the natural cycle, the patient must be given hormonal medication to stimulate the production of multiple ovarian follicles. The gynecologist will carry out periodic ultrasound controls to evaluate the growth of the follicles and to be able to program the ovarian puncture to obtain them. These eggs will be fertilized in the laboratory with previously capacitated donor sperm.
The embryos generated will be transferred to the patient's uterus followed by the wait to see if they implant and produce a pregnancy.
