Artificial insemination with donor sperm (AID) is a reproductive option for couples of homosexual women who wish to have a baby. Thanks to this fertility treatment, many lesbian couples have fulfiled their wish to have a baby.
The donor matching process is done completely anonymous, taking into account the similarity of physical characteristics between the donor and the recipient woman. To perform an AID, only one of the women will participate in the process. She will be given hormonal medication to gently stimulate the ovary and the development of 1-2 ovarian follicles.
When these ovarian follicles have reached the desired size, the gynecologist will schedule the insemination.
