The hormone-releasing contraceptive patch is placed on the skin and must be changed once a week. Its efficacy is high, although it may be diminished in overweight women due to inadequate absorption.
However, this method of contraception also has some disadvantages. For example, contraceptive patches may cause breakthrough bleeding, skin irritation, or may peel off the skin. In addition, the price of this contraceptive is higher than others.
