The IUD or intrauterine device is a T-shaped contraceptive method whose mechanism of action consists of releasing hormones. Thanks to this hormonal release, this contraceptive method prevents embryo implantation.
Normally, the duration of the IUD is about 5 years. However, this method of contraception has the disadvantage that it can be painful to insert. In addition, periods may be irregular at first and there is a risk of inflammation of the cervix. It can also lead to an increased risk of ectopic pregnancy.
