During the ovarian stimulation of an assisted reproduction treatment, the patient is administered hormonal drugs to achieve multiple follicular development. In this way, the aim is to increase the chances of success by having a greater number of oocytes compared to a natural cycle in which only one egg matures.
However, the increase in the size of the ovaries (together with some possible symptoms due to the medication) may cause the patient to notice certain abdominal discomfort.
