It is not possible to be pregnant and have menstruation, although it is common to have light bleeding that has nothing to do with menstruation. Especially in the first months of pregnancy, many women have vaginal bleeding. These are decidual haemorrhages caused by hormonal alterations typical of pregnancy.
Some of the physiological processes that take place during pregnancy and that can cause vaginal bleeding, but not menstruation, are embryo implantation and changes in the cervix in preparation for delivery.
