Persons which are diagnosed with cancer and are in a fertile age can become temporally or permanently infertile after chemo- or radiotherapy when their reproductive organs are affected.
In particular, the effect of cancer and antitumour treatments on the female and male gonads will depend on some factors such as the following:
- Type of tumor and location
- Age and sex of patient
- Dose of chemotherapeutic drugs
- Frequency and dose of radiation
