Some infections can cause miscarriage and may be related to the mother's lifestyle. For example, acute infections caused by cytomegalovirus, chlamydias, mycoplasmas, or specific infections such as syphilis or listeriosis can cause miscarriages.
For all these reasons, it is essential that both the woman and her partner take care of themselves when they decide to have a baby, as this will greatly reduce the probability of any type of gestational complication.
