Early menopause is often caused by premature ovarian failure, the causes of which are difficult to determine. Some possible causes of this are family history, genetic changes, exposure to toxic agents or a viral process such as malaria.
Other causes of premature menopause are surgeries that damage the ovarian cortex where the eggs are, as well as cancer treatments.
