Any embryo that is transferred into the uterus has a chance of implanting and resulting in pregnancy. However, an embryo classified as grade A is more likely to implant than an embryo of quality C, for example.
D-grade embryos have the worst prognosis. Most of them are discarded and not transferred. However, there are times when it is decided to do a long culture of these embryos and see their evolution up to the blastocyst stage or day 5 of development rather than discarding them directly.
