Female pituitary hormones

Pituitary hormones are hormones that are secreted in response to a message sent by the hypothalamus. These hormones, also known as gonadotropins, are FSH and LH. Both hormones exert their function on the ovary by stimulating the development of ovarian follicles and triggering ovulation respectively.

In addition, TSH is also a pituitary hormone and exerts its function on the thyroid gland. Prolactin is another hormone that belongs to this group and is responsible for stimulating milk production in pregnancy.
