The appropriate assisted reproductive technique for each woman or couple depends on the cause of infertility. For milder cases and when the woman is young, it is possible to achieve pregnancy by scheduling sexual intercourse. The second technique with a higher degree of difficulty would be artificial insemination. Finally, in more complicated cases of infertility or when the woman is already advanced in age, it is necessary to resort to in vitro fertilization techniques, which can be combined with other more complex techniques depending on the characteristics of each patient, such as PGD or egg donation.
