What is the non-invasive prenatal test like?

The non-invasive prenatal test (NIPT) is a diagnostic test based on the study of fetal DNA found in a blood sample from the mother. Therefore, only a maternal blood sample is taken and the DNA of the fetus and the mother is separated. The fetal DNA is then sequenced in the laboratory.
Thanks to this NIPT it is possible to detect genetic alterations in the fetus as early as the 9th-10th week of pregnancy.
