Can you donate eggs if you have a mental illness?

Hi, I’d like to ask the following question…

My wife is currently in the middle of an egg donation cycle, but she is at the same time taking Lorazepam for the treatment of a psychotic break. We are a bit worried because we think maybe this drug is incompatible with this fertility treatment, is it? In case it is, is there any other compatible tranquilizer? Please, let us know ASAP, we are worried.

Thank you very much for your attention

  2. Dear james,

Indeed, It is of primary importance that you take into account every medication you are taking while undergoing egg donation, since incompatibilities may arise between them.

However, for the time being we do not have any news that Lorazepam is incompatible with the egg donation process, including hormone medications taken in this type of fertility treatments.

Anyhow, my advice is that you ask your doctor as soon as possible, since he/she is the one that best knows your particular case.

    Best wishes
