What are missed or silent miscarriage symptoms?

Hello… Well, if I’m writing here is because I’ve been through miscarriage, so I’d like to share my own experience. It may be sad, but at the end I know it will help many women and couples so here you go.

I’m 34 and I went through a miscarriage two years ago. I was just 2 weeks pregnant then and honestly it was such am unpleasant experience. The point is that now I’m pregnant again (3 months pregnant to be precise) and I feel a very sharp-intense pain on my belly button area.

I’ve been told there’s a type of miscarriage known as “missed miscarriage” or “silent miscarriage” and it consists of the following: the embryo dies within the uterus, and does not deliver… But you don’t even realize! So bearing in mind that I’ve been through a miscarriage, I’m scared it will happen again.

To be honest, I’m becoming obsessed over it, but I’m sure you understand my situation. I’ve scheduled an appointment with my gynecologist but it’s in two weeks time, so I don’t know if it will be too late then or if I should go ASAP.

    Thanks!

  2. Dear HopeNeverDies,

The explanation you’ve given about missed miscarriage is totally right. The dead embryo is not delivered by the organism because it has not even realized the embryo is dead. That is the reason why it is also known as silent miscarriage. Even its symptoms are usually “silent”, that is, no nausea or breast pain is felt. However, any nuisance you are feeling should be checked by an expert through ultrasound scan.

    Good luck!

    • Hi there, my name is Richard and I’m 20. One year ago, when my girlfriend was 6 months pregnant, we lost our baby 🙁 It died and then it was expelled from her body. The gynecologist told us that she could become pregnant again after a year… but we’ve been trying to conceive for over 8 months but we’re not pregnant yet… Does miscarriage cause infertility? 🙁 Please, give me a piece of advice…

    • Richard,

There’s no direct link between miscarriage and infertility but it can have an influence, though. Did she undergo a D&C procedure? Maybe that’s the reason why you are unable to conceive, because it could’ve damaged her uterus. My recommendation is that you visit an specialist.

  4. Hello, ladies. Don’t feel sad and keep on trying. 3 years ago, I had missed miscarriage. It was so harmful to me I felt depressed. But my experience I think there are some symptoms for a missed miscarriage. such as vaginal bleeding, heavy cramping, or expulsion of fetal tissue. With a missed miscarriage, the placenta may still release hormones, which can continue the signs of pregnancy for women. For me, the placenta released hormones and I thought that I’m still pregnant. so be careful and check your pregnancy through ultrasound. Keep trying and don’t give up. All best wishes.

  5. Hello, ladies. Don’t feel hopeless and keep on trying. 5 years ago, I had a miscarriage. It was so harmful to me I felt down and I don’t know why that happened to me. I suffered from Second-Trimester Miscarriage. I was waiting for this baby for a long time. I waited 5 years after my marriage. You can’t imagine how cruel were these years! When I got pregnant, I was so happy. I was so careful and cared about my nutrition. But regrettably, in 15th week I began to feel with low back pain, frequent urination, and diarrhea. After that, I hurried to the doctor and he checked me. It was a shock when he told me that I had a miscarriage and I’d lose my baby. After this hard time past, I realized that life is going on. I tried to conceive and I succeed to be pregnant. I advise you to visit the doctor ASAP
