Preimplantation genetic diagnosis is a complementary technique that is usually recommended for patients with a known history of hereditary diseases. In addition, other indications for which PGD is recommended are women who have suffered several previous miscarriages, i.e. cases of repeated miscarriages, and elderly patients.
Although PGD has numerous benefits and increases the probability of embryo implantation, it also has the disadvantage that patients may run out of embryos to transfer.
