A GnRH analog is a type of artificially manufactured molecule that replaces some amino acid inside the original molecule. These artificial GnRH molecules have a high affinity for receptors located in the pituitary gland.
Their aim is to impede the normal function of GnRH in order to block the flow of FSH and LH hormones. Normally, GnRH analogues are used in the field of assisted reproduction for the ovarian stimulation phase. In this way, it is possible to slow down the pituitary function and keep the ovaries at rest.
