Hypospermia is the term used to refer to the alteration in seminal volume. The World Health Organization (WHO) establishes that a semen sample must contain at least 1.5 mL of ejaculate to be considered normal. Otherwise, the diagnosis would be hypospermia.
There are several reasons that can cause a decrease in the volume of the ejaculate. This is the case of retrograde ejaculation, obstruction or absence of vas deferens and androgen insufficiency. In addition, if the patient has ejaculated several times in the same day, this can also be the cause of the reduction in seminal volume.
