When a woman is told to have a hysterosalpingogram, it is important to keep in mind a few considerations to avoid any risks associated with this test.
First of all, hysterosalpingography should be performed between days 8-10 of the menstrual cycle. In this way, it is possible to ensure that the woman is not pregnant at the time of the test, which would be harmful to the fetus. It is also possible to do a pregnancy test to confirm it.
Other recommendations are the following: it is not necessary to come fasting, it is possible to take analgesics for pain and, sometimes, the doctor may prescribe antibiotics to prevent genital tract infections.
